November 2024

Owner Glicel Sumagaysay is grateful for the opportunity to speak on a panel at this year's CELA Conference: Lawyers at a Cross-roads: Resisting the Dark Side.

Earlier in the year, Glicel Sumagaysay joined Asian Pacific American Bar Association (APABA) Solano County. She currently serves as its Secretary. APABA Solano held its annual dinner which honored several Jesse Bethel High School students with scholarships aimed towards their legal career aspirations. 

June 2024

Glicel Sumagaysay began a second term as the Legal Clinics Co-Chair of the Filipino Bar Association of Northern California (FBANC). 

August 2024

Recently, Glicel Sumagaysay joined Asian Pacific American Bar Association (APABA) Solano County as a board member. APABA Solano held its annual backpack and school supplies drive BBQ to benefit students of Solano County.

Along with two other members of the California Employment Lawyers Association's (CELA) Worker Outreach Committee, Attorney/Owner Glicel Sumagaysay presented a Know Your Rights webinar on Workers Rights as part of the Filipino Bar Association of Northern California's (FBANC) Multi-Practice Know Your Rights Presentation via Zoom. 

 

As FBANC's Co-Director of Legal Clinics, she helped put on the Multi-Practice Know Your Rights Presentation, which featured five other areas of law and multiple attorneys.

Owner/Attorney Glicel Sumagaysay is proud to be named Chair of the California Employment Lawyers Association's Worker Outreach Committee.  The committee prepares Know Your Rights and other programs and resources to educate workers about their employment rights.  The Worker Outreach Committee happily collaborates with other organizations in doing this to reach the most workers from all over California. 

May 2023

Attorney/Owner Glicel Sumagaysay is grateful to be an incoming Director for the Filipino Bar Association of Northern California (FBANC). She will focus on producing clinics at which filipino community groups and other attendees can obtain free legal help.  

 

The FBANC 43 Board will be installed at FBANC's annual Gala on June 9, 2023 at The Pearl. If you are interested in supporting FBANC's efforts this year, which includes providing over $30,000 in scholarships to law students, please consider sponsoring the event and/or attending the Gala. 

December 1, 2022

Along with attorneys from the personal injury and family law fields, an administrative judge, and a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion practitioner, Attorney/Owner Glicel Sumagaysay created and presented on a panel entitled "The Importance of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Legal Profession: A Discussion from Various Perspectives."  Among other things, the panelists evaluated recent data on the racial and gender make-up of attorneys in the country as well as in California. Additionally, the panelists discussed key terminology when discussing DEI as well as practical ways in which legal professionals could support diversity in their everyday life, their practice, their firms, and the legal profession.  The program can be viewed here

Owner/Attorney Glicel Sumagaysay is proud to be named Vice Chair of the California Employment Lawyers Association's Worker Outreach Committee.  The committee prepares Know Your Rights programs to educate workers about their employment rights.  We are eager to serve and provide critical information to workers so they feel empowered to stand up for themselves.

As part of the 2021 annual California Employment Lawyers Association conference, Glicel Sumagaysay recorded a CELA TALK on "Tips for Productivity."   

July 1, 2021

In her role as a member of the Alameda County Bar Association's Labor and Employment Executive Committee, Glicel Sumagaysay helped produce and moderated a panel on "Litigating Race Discrimination Cases". Among other things, the panelists from both the plaintiff and defense sides discussed how litigating race discrimination cases has changed, if at all, since the murder of George Floyd.  

June 2021

Glicel Sumagaysay joined the Asian Pacific American Women Lawyers' Alliance (APAWLA) and its Civic Engagement Committee. The committee presents "Thinking Out Loud" sessions, as well as other panels and programs which discuss issues that affect AAPI women attorneys and communities. The committee also evaluates and takes action with respect to proposed laws and cases to be heard by the U.S. Supreme Court involving gender inequality and inequity.

Attorney/Owner Glicel Sumagaysay is excited to moderate the upcoming program Employment Law Developments in the Age of COVID-19.  The program will feature panelists who will discuss requirements and best practices for managing employees during the pandemic.

Alameda County Bar Association Employment Law Symposium September 25, 2020
As Chair of the Labor and Employment Section Executive Committee, Attorney/Owner Glicel Sumagaysay is working with the Committee to develop mandatory continuing legal education programs for its annual Employment Law Symposium.  This year's Symposium will focus on COVID-19's impact on our employment law practices, such as the Claims and Legislative Issues that Arise from COVID-19; Video Trials and Arbitrations; Technical and Ethical Issues Related to the Litigating Cases in the Pandemic, and Agency COVID-19 Complaints: Processing and Investigation.  We are confident the esteemed panelists will present useful and educational information to our fellow employment lawyer members.
